NOTES ABOUT CTK: Men of CTK, put on your schedule now our annual Men’s Retreat held at the Gohr’s residence in the Sherman, TX area. The weekend is October 2-4, 2026. More information will soon follow.

BLESSINGS TO LAURA SANDERS: We wish God’s richest blessings upon Laura Sanders as she begins her journey toward becoming a rostered deaconess in The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS). Laura’s deaconess internship is conducted under the direction and supervision of the Texas District. As part of her internship, however, she is required to gain parish experience that cannot be provided solely through the District Office. For this reason, you may see Laura’s involvement and participation in our congregation increase as she fulfills the practical and ministry experience required by the seminary for certification. Laura’s internship is fully funded by the Texas District. Pastor Raebel has agreed to serve as her local mentor. We are grateful for the opportunity to support Laura in this important step toward her vocation of service to Christ and His Church, and we pray that the Lord will richly bless her throughout this journey.

ELDERS SEEKING INPUT: The Board of Elders are asking for input from the members of CTK about moving service times to 8:30 and 11:00 a.m. If the change was to happen, Sunday School would run from about 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. Please let an elder know your thoughts on this. The hope is that such a time change will increase our growth.

MEN’S RETREAT 2026: Our plans for the 2026 Men’s Retreat have now been finalized. The dates are October 2-4, 2026. We will be staying at the Best Western 810 N US Highway 75, Denison, TX. 75020. Our studies and fellowship will take place at the Gohr’s residence at 162 Lakeshore Drive, Pottsboro, TX 75076.  This year our study book is titled, “Quiet Men’s Strength” written by Tony Dungy. It is a six-session Bible study designed to help men examine what it means to live a faithful, purposeful, and Christ-centered life. We will again team up with Habitat for Humanity for our service project. Costs for this retreat will be $330.00 for those wanting a room to themselves and $230.00 for those willing to have a roommate. It will be up to you to arrange your roommate. This will cover all meals, lodging, snacks, and beverages. If you plan to attend, please register for the event by writing a check to the church for the amount listed either for single room or one with a roommate. Registration deadline is September 20, 2026. UNWAVERING EVENT 2.0: Our second Unwavering Event is scheduled for September 12th from 5:00—7:00 p.m. This time we invite all those who feel young at heart to join us. Our musician Madison will be back! The Food Truck this time will be Woody’s BBQ. Plates of pulled pork will sell for $15.00, brisket or ribs for $20.00. This event is sponsored by your Board of Social Ministry and Outreach. Invite friends to come! Let them know we are here!!! The first 50 that arrive will receive $10.00 coupons for Woody’s BBQ!

SMALL GROUP: You should soon hear from your small group leaders. They will tell you time and place of when and where your group will be meeting. If their time doesn’t work for you, please check the scheduled time and places of other small groups to see if one of those is better for you. That schedule is posted on the bulletin board. If you don’t hear from a small group leader by the end of the month and wish to be part of a group, notify the office and we will be sure to get you in touch with a group.

SUNDAY SCHOOL SERVICE PROJECT: This fall our children and youth Sunday School classes will be collecting different items each month to assemble "Blessing Boxes." These boxes will contain different non-perishable items and will be given out to local food banks. Check with your child's Sunday School teacher to see what their class is assigned to bring.  

CHILDREN’S CHURCH: We will be starting back up children's church in the 10:45AM service on September 13th! This is a time for kids preschool (4 years old) - 3rd grade to come learn a special lesson just for them. Kids are dismissed before the sermon and return before communion. We appreciate our dedicated volunteers who made this program a success!
